I Wanna Get Better

I Wanna Get Better

Have you ever wondered how to keep, keeping on? How to be consistent with exercising, or organizing, or eating healthy? For many people, starting is the easy part, but sticking with it is impossible. The New Year has just started. It’s only February and already I heard a report on Good Morning America, on how to get out of a gym membership.

What motivates us? What can we do to be faithful enough to start seeing results? These are the questions I ask myself. Sometimes it’s the guilt of failing that causes us to quit. Or we simply don’t see results fast enough. Or even see that someone we know, doing the exact same thing, is getting the results we wish we had. Whatever may be the reason, most people suffer with the defeat of not following through.

I have often thought that maybe better is what we should focus on. Did I eat better today, did I do better today, have I accomplished, in some small way, a step closer to my goal. There will be many days that we miss the mark of the goal we set before us. That’s okay too. If you have many more good days than bad, then you have succeeded. A friend of mine always says there is good, better, and best. Maybe it’s okay to aim for the good or better rather than aiming for the best.

All the magazines photoshop their models. No one is born with the perfect body, or hair, or teeth, or whatever. So these magazines try to sell us on Perfection. If you eat this, or do this, you can be just like them. They don’t exist! I believe we just get disappointed in the results we had hoped for. No matter what I do I will never look like “them.”

So in this new year, new you, aim to be better. Do something good for yourself, even resting. Our bodies were created to need rest. Even the Lord rested on the 7th day! It’s not good to push your body to such an extreme that it breaks down. We are much more than just a physical body anyways.

So be kind to yourself and promise to do something good for yourself every day in this new year. The results will be amazing, I promise you.

Feel free to comment below, I would love to get to know you and see what you think.

Be blessed,

Bobbi
